Publication Date1657
RemainderAlphabetically set down, as they be in every shire. With the names of the hundreds in which they are, and how many towns there are in every hundred. So that naming any town or place in England and Wales, you may presently in the alphabet find it, and know in what shire and hundred it is, and so know the distance from it to the shire town, and in the large table for shires in England how far to London, or from it to any other town in England. A work very necessary for traveilers, quartermasters, gatherers of breefs, strangers, carriers, and messengers with letters, and all others that know the name of the place, but can neither tell where it is, nor how to goe unto it. If you would find out any shire, note that the shires lie alphabetically, beginning with Barkshire, and so following accordingly
