The following essay towards "an English grammar for the use of Ackworth School," is printed off in this manner for the sake of being sent by post to the author's literary Friends &c. to solicit their observations upon it before it is printed in the visual manner

Publication Date1800
RemainderThe Committee, being in great haste to have the work finished, have pushed it forward so fast, that there has not been so much time as was wished to consider and arrange the extracts and obervations; it will therefore appear in a less perfect state than otherwise it might. Not only remarks on the several parts of it, but such deficiencies as appear necessary to be supplied are requested to be communicated in the course of a week or two, if convenient, to Thomas Coar, schoolmaster, Tottenham; or to Jonathan Binns, Superintendent of Ackworth School, Yorkshire. If there be any intelligent schoolmasters, clergymen, or other literary persons in the neighbourhood, their observations will be acceptable.
