Mr. Marcus Gibbin, late rector of Birch in Essex, highly esteemed by the learned for the collection he made in his travels thro' France, Italy, &c. And others too many to mention here. This collection, being no less that [sic] eighteen different libraries, deserves a particular regard from the learned and studious, on account of its value and number of manuscripts, as well as books, such as are not to be found in other catalogues, as the early editions of the classick authors, various editions of the Bible, the antient impressions of the fathers, the history of Great Britain, Ireland, France, Italy, and most other kingdoms of the known world, books of geography, chronology, voyages and travels, in Latin, English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Dutch, &c. the laws of different countries as well as our own, physick, surgery and natural history, philosophy, criticism, mathematicks and arithmetick, Greek and Roman antiquities, coins and medals, a numerous collection of fine prints and books of prints, after the most eminent masters, by the best engravers, as likewise some curious drawings.
